ERETZ HAKODESH by Penina Schleider
Eretz HaKodesh is a visual expression of the pasuk “Kedoshim tihyu, ki kadosh ani” (Vayikra 19:2)—to be holy, not by separating from the world, but by elevating it.
As I painted, I was thinking about the kallah circling her chassan beneath the chuppah, building seven invisible walls of love and protection around their future. Those seven circles are reflected here in the sky—seven soft clouds, symbolizing both the sheva hakafos and the seven Ananei HaKavod that surrounded Am Yisrael in the midbar. In every Jewish home, those clouds still hover: a quiet, sacred shield guiding each family through their own journey, with Hashem always at the center.
You’ll also find flowing water woven into the painting, symbolizing Torah—nurturing, surrounding, and filling the home with meaning and life. And as the name Eretz HaKodesh suggests, this holiness isn’t abstract. It’s built through homes, fields, trees, and children running freely—through families living deeply grounded lives that are both spiritual and physical. Not separation, but a beautiful harmony between the two. That is true kedushah.
This painting is a celebration of a land, a people, and a calling—to build something beautiful in this world, nurtured in the physical, uplifted by the spiritual.
This painting can be printed in any size and on a variety of materials — from luxurious art canvas to sleek Chromaluxe metal, elegant glass panels, or other unique surfaces.
